WAVE Signing Choir

Wednesdays 4:30 till 6:00 – running through the year in term times. The Choir provides participants an opportunity to learn Makaton Singing and singing, accessible to disabled young people, their friends family and carers.

WAVE stands for Welcome, Accessible, Valuing Everyone, and encompasses the ethos we hope to develop with the choir.

WAVE is suitable for children and young adults with and without disabilities, and their families, friends, carers, and allies. Each term we will be learning a variety of songs, which choir members can join in with by singing, doing the Makaton signs, and helping out with props, sensory materials, and symbols – each individual will be able to choose the level of participation that suits them best.

WAVE forms part of Ark T’s ‘My Normal’ music project, which is funded by Youth Music, and aims to improve access to music making for LGBTI+ and Disabled young people in Oxford. ‘
