The Ark-T Collective

Ark-T is growing its pool of inspiring freelance artists to form the Ark-T Collective – a network of creatives who bring bold, inclusive, and engaging workshops into the heart of our community. From our Welcome Space and one-off workshops for after-school groups to community lunches, exhibitions, and festivals, we reach people where they are with creativity that connects, uplifts, and heals.

We’re looking for forward-thinking artists with a creative practice that explores community, and a genuine interest in using their work to support wellbeing, mental health, and social connection. Experience working with SEND participants and/or vulnerable adults is especially welcome. The work is freelance, with a variety of opportunities arising throughout the year.

What You’ll Have Opportunities To Do:

  • Deliver engaging workshops in creative disciplines (e.g. visual arts, music, movement)
  • Facilitate workshops in a range of community settings for children, young people, and adults
  • Design inclusive, accessible content that promotes wellbeing and creative expression
  • Bring your unique practice and perspective to inspire, empower, and connect participants
  • Work flexibly throughout the year, including school holidays and community events

We’re Looking For Artists With:

  • Experience designing and delivering arts workshops in community or educational settings
  • Confidence working with children, young people, and vulnerable adults
  • Experience with SEND participants is highly desirable
  • A collaborative, inclusive and forward-thinking approach to creative practice
  • A genuine passion for community work, wellbeing, and mental health support
  • Safeguarding training is desirable
  • An enhanced DBS check will be required
  • Artists from underrepresented backgrounds and practices are warmly encouraged to apply

Optional Artist Development Opportunity:

As a member of the Ark-T Collective, you’ll be invited to take part in optional monthly Creative Practice support sessions hosted at Ark-T. These unpaid sessions offer a relaxed, in-person space for artists to come together, share ideas, and bring something from their practice to discuss with the wider group. It’s a chance to build community, reflect, and grow alongside fellow creatives who care about community arts.

To Apply:

Please send the following to jo@ark-t.org :

In your email, please tell us why community work matters to you. We’re building a diverse, thoughtful and imaginative artist pool – If you have any questions please feel free to get in touch with Jo using the email above.
