OX4 Food Crew

A Community-Powered Response to Covid-19.

In March 2020, Ark-T closed its two centres and within two weeks had forged an alliance with Flos, Oxford Together, Oxford Foodbank, Waste 2 Taste and Oxford City Council to transform our space into food hubs to alleviate food poverty and support those affected by the pandemic. We continued to develop our work and were joined by Oxford Community Action delivering up to 500 emergency food parcels every week from our centre. We are leading on creative education cooking programmes for families on low-income with Waste2Taste, community meal events with Flos and spearheading community-led research into the root causes of food insecurity.

OX4 Food Crew partnership has now grown considerably and is now an alliance of 9 local grassroots organisations Flo's the Place in The Park, Waste2Taste, Oxford Community Action, Donnington Doorstep, Oxford Mutual Aid, Oxford City Farm, Damascus Rose Kitchen and No Vice Ice working towards a shared mission of tackling food insecurity in OX4, Oxford.

"We were down to our last bits in the cupboard this morning and literally didn't know what was for dinner. The generosity and kindness of everybody involved is truly wonderful."
