Jo Race is an artist driven by everyday life, play, humour, constantly attempting to make art more equal. She creates open-ended, playful experiences that need an audience to complete them. Jo’s past projects range from performances, unintentional sculpture, dog shows, working as a free art worker, and sculptures made from fly-tipped rubbish on the sides of roads.
Collaboration is really important to her. Currently working within a community art space, Jo is deeply invested in exploring being a person, artist / cultural practitioner and finding new ways to bring more equality to the arts bringing people together. She believes art should offer real, immediate value to people, often moving out of traditional galleries and merging into everyday life.
